approach

My goal is to help a child achieve his/her highest level of independence and motor abilities.

Support toward family involvement and participation in a home program is an integral part of my approach as it is proven to achieve the best outcome  (in addition to regular physical therapy sessions).  I also believe strongly in community engagement with peers: I will try to get each child involved in appropriate community gross motor activities, such as acrobatics, swimming, soccer, dance, martial arts or yoga.  Many of my clients lack the skills and confidence to join their peers on the playground or in community activities, and one of my goals is to get the child ready to function together with their peers in the community, possibly with appropriate adjustments as needed.

For my youngest clients I offer treatments in the home, if they live in the vicinity.

I work with families and involved professionals to develop a treatment plan that reflects the unique needs of each child, as well as preferences and priorities of parents.  The treatment plan is regularly being revised following an evaluation on how the child grows and develops.

I also offer short blocks of intensive treatments, with specific short term goals, determined by the child and family.
